care instructions

A well-maintained bag transforms from just an accessory into a companion that accompanies your days, collecting memories with each adventure. These simple routines are not chores but small acts of connection that allow your Bari Bags to age beautifully with you. We believe that the most meaningful accessories are not merely carried but lived, loved, and layered with stories worth cherishing. Here are some tips to maintain and extend the life of your Bari Bags.

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure: Direct sunlight can cause faux leather to fade, dry out, or crack over time.
  • Keep away from heat sources: Radiators, heaters, or hot car interiors may warp or damage both faux leather and nylon surfaces.
  • Store properly: When not in use, store your bag in a cool, dry place. Stuff it lightly with tissue paper or soft fabric to help maintain its shape. Avoid plastic bags; use a breathable cotton dust bag if available.

Cleaning Faux Leather

  • Wipe gently: Use a soft, slightly damp cloth (with water only) to wipe away surface dirt or spills. Do not soak the material.
  • Mild soap (if needed): For tougher stains, mix a few drops of mild dish soap with water. Dampen a cloth (not the bag directly), wipe gently, then immediately dry with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Never use: Alcohol, bleach, acetone, or abrasive cleaners, as they can strip the finish or damage the surface.

Cleaning Nylon

  • Spot clean only: Use a soft cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and a tiny amount of mild detergent. Gently dab or wipe the stained area.
  • Air dry naturally: Never machine wash, tumble dry, or iron nylon parts. Hang or lay flat to air dry away from direct sun.
  • Avoid harsh scrubbing: This can damage the fabric’s texture or water-resistant coating.

Hardware & Zippers

  • Wipe metal parts occasionally with a dry cloth to prevent tarnishing.
  • Zip gently: Don’t force zippers. If stiff, apply a small amount of wax (like candle wax) to ease movement, never oil.

Water & Rain

  • Faux leather: Wipe off rainwater immediately with a dry cloth. Though water-resistant, prolonged moisture can weaken adhesives or cause peeling.
  • Nylon: Most nylon is water-repellent but not fully waterproof. Shake off excess water and air-dry thoroughly.

Longevity Tip

  • Rotate your bags: Let each one rest between uses to preserve its shape and finish.
  • Store upright: Keep your bag on a shelf, not hanging by its straps, to avoid stretching or warping.
  • Blot spills immediately: Whether it’s jhol momo grease, monsoon mud, or chiya splashes, gently dab (never rub!) with a dry cloth to prevent stains.
  • Fix small issues early:  A loose thread or peeling edge? A tiny stitch or a dab of fabric glue can stop minor wear from becoming major damage.
  • Condition only if needed. Faux leather doesn’t require regular treatment, but if it looks dull, you can use a faux-leather-specific conditioner (available online or in Kathmandu craft stores). Always test on a hidden area first.

Thank you for choosing us. These habits not only extend your bag’s life, but they also deepen your connection to it. After all, at Bari Studio Co, we believe accessories should carry stories, not just stuff.
